The Goal of DPARK3311 Fashion Lab…

is to support the local established & emerging fashion industry by identifying and providing training, mentoring, work space, apparel manufacturing/production and support to help fashion entrepreneurs develop the rounded skill set that is necessary to execute their vision, goals and business ideas through the ‘Designer in Residence’ program. The Fashion Lab helps expand your knowledge while providing you with a community of like-minded creatives. Members will have exclusive access and resources to film, graphics, technology, artist, fashion design roadmap, costume design,  events, networking with creatives, community programming and which will be essential to growing your business confidently.

DPark3311 Designer in residence program will provide:

  • A Co-working & community designed for creative's with shared Office and work Space

  • Demonstrate a detailed knowledge and understanding of costume within contemporary creative practice in live and media-related performance.  

  • Take an active role as costume designer in artistic productions in diverse fields of the performing arts, in film, television and other camera- and media-based projects, as well as in creative projects within the local and national film industry.  

  • Five Designers-in-Residence will be chosen for each cohort by Prince George’s Arts and Humanities Council DESIGN PARK 3311 Fashion Lab selection committee

  • Experiment on new concepts for the creation of costumes, initiate and propose new artistic ideas in the costume & fashion design industry.

  • Costume Design curriculum in fashion, film and business startup

  • Retail opportunities in Marketing, Social Media and Publicity

  • Connect with entrepreneurs and other business owners

  • Create your own curated appearances, events and provide opportunities to form personal business trajectories and real-world tactics for resilience and scaling growth.

  • Master diverse artistic processes and technologies for media and live performance productions, applying and extending artistic and design skills and specialist knowledge in costume design.  

  • Work as a creative team member in film, commercials, artistic explorations and productions. Networking opportunities and small business management  

  • Opportunities for branding and commercialization assistance

  • Opportunity to present their venture, technology or business case to buyers and investors   Provide creative space and an extensive curriculum focused on the tools necessary to run a fashion business

  • Produce and coordinate fashion events, pop-up shops, and trunk shows.
