“The Perennials” Unveiling at Downtown Largo Metro Station

On June 17, 2025, we proudly celebrated the unveiling of The Perennials — the very first public art installation along the Blue Line Corridor. This vibrant new work, installed at the Downtown Largo Metro Station, marks a major milestone in our commitment to creative placemaking and accessible public art throughout Prince George’s County.

Created by internationally acclaimed digital scenographer Anaitté Vaccaro, The Perennials is a striking visual experience that brings energy, color, and meaning to one of the County’s busiest transit hubs. This landmark installation was made possible through a dynamic partnership between Prince George’s Arts and Humanities Council (PGAHC)and WMATA’s Art in Transit Program.

The event brought together local leaders, artists, community members, and art lovers to witness the grand reveal of this transformative work. Guests had the opportunity to hear from the artist, learn about the vision behind the project, and experience the power of art in public spaces.

We’re proud to be part of the revitalization of the Blue Line Corridor, and The Perennials is just the beginning. Public art has the ability to reflect our stories, energize our neighborhoods, and create welcoming spaces for all — and we’re thrilled to continue building that future with you.

Take a look at a few moments from the event below — and if you haven’t seen The Perennials in person yet, make sure to stop by the Downtown Largo Metro Station soon!
