Building with Art in Mind: PGAHC CEO and Chief Curator, Rhonda Dallas, Champions Public Art in Private Development at CODAworx Summit
Rhonda Dallas, CEO & Chief Curator of the Prince George’s Arts & Humanities Council, brought a deep sense of vision and purpose to her role as moderator of “The Role of Private Development in Public Art” panel at the CODAsummit. As the leader of an organization responsible for stewarding public art, creative placemaking, and cultural infrastructure in Prince George’s County, she effectively bridged theory and practice during her panel.
Dallas’ panel at the CODAsummit featured a lively discussion about how private investment can enhance public art and the built environment in areas rich in history and culture. The panel included experts such as Omar Karim, President of Banneker Ventures; Anaitte Vaccaro, a Public Artist and Digital Scenographer; and Matt Sanchez, Director of Development at Urban Atlantic. Together, they explored ways to incorporate creativity, fairness, and community identity into modern development, a field where Dallas and PGAHC have demonstrated steady leadership.
As the inaugural CODAsummit on the East Coast, Dallas took the opportunity to showcase the MGM National Harbor Heritage Collection, an important cultural initiative in the region, and to engage a national audience in a meaningful discussion about the connection between art, culture, and economic development. In her role as curator and developer of the Heritage Collection, Dallas drew on her extensive experience in integrating art into Prince George’s County’s public spaces.
