Save the Date: Call for the Next Prince George’s County Poet Laureate Opens January 2026

Are you a poet with deep roots in Prince George’s County? Do you use your voice to inspire, uplift, and move communities to think, feel, and act?

We’re getting ready to open applications for the next Poet Laureate of Prince George’s County — and this is your early invitation to get prepared.

This prestigious role honors a local literary artist whose work reflects the rich cultural fabric of our County and who is passionate about using poetry to connect, educate, and advocate through the arts.

Applications will open January 2026.

As the County’s official ambassador for poetry, the Poet Laureate will:

• Create and perform original work at public events

• Champion literary arts across the region

• Inspire new generations of writers and readers

• Serve a two-year term from 2026–2028

Whether you’re a published poet or a powerful spoken word artist, we encourage you to apply and share your unique voice with the broader community.
