Seat Pleasant Day Celebrates 95 Years—and Invites Residents to Help Shape What’s Next
On May 2, the City of Seat Pleasant celebrated its 95th anniversary with Seat Pleasant Day 2026, bringing residents together for a day of live music, performances, community activities, and a look toward the city’s future.
The Prince George’s Arts and Humanities Council (PGAHC) was proud to sponsor this year’s celebration and engage residents around an upcoming creative crosswalk project planned for Seat Pleasant. Throughout the event, community members had an opportunity to view proposed designs, complete surveys, share feedback, and vote for the concepts they would most like to see become part of the city’s streetscape.
The community engagement is an important part of PGAHC’s approach to creative placemaking. By inviting the people who live, work, and gather in Seat Pleasant to participate in the process, the future crosswalks can reflect the identity and creative spirit of the community they will call home.
Beyond helping shape what comes next, Seat Pleasant Day was also an opportunity to celebrate what has already been built over the past 95 years. Residents, families, local leaders, and community partners gathered to enjoy performances and festivities honoring the city’s history while imagining its next chapter.
