ARTIST STATEMENT

The process in creating the imagery for the Avatar Series 2.0 originated from a photograph Ronald Beverly made of a natural ice formation on the shoreline of a creek at Watkins Regional Park in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. Depending on the temperatures during winter, ice will form, melt and reform creating these stunning patterns and shapes. The result is a tapestry that inspires and informs the vision, spirit, and evolution of his work beyond the conventional interpretation of nature's landscape.

As part of Metro's Bus Stop and Shelter Improvements Program, Prince George's Arts and Humanities Council and the Metro's Art in Transit Program and are pleased to share Ronald Beverly's artwork with the community.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

RONALD BEVERLY

Ronald Beverly is a fine art photographer with an interest in creative and conceptual imagery. He has been producing photographs raging from the literal to abstractions of the landscape emphasizing nature's hidden beauty of texture, tone, shape, and the elusive quality of light which continues to be a reoccurring theme in his work. Advancements in digital capture and printable substrates has created opportunities for him to explore upscaling his photography suitable for public art venues.

Extensive research has revealed fabrication methods in reproducing imagery on glass, metal and ceramic tiles that has led to successful commissions with MGM National Harbor, The Hotel at The University of Maryland/Prince George's Arts and Humanities Council and the Southern Regional Technology & Recreation Complex/Prince Georges County-Department of Parks and Recreation.
