Call for Artists: Traffic Box Art Wrap Project – City of Laurel
The Prince George’s Arts and Humanities Council is excited to share a new public art opportunity from the City of Laurel, presented by the Laurel Arts Council.
Artists, graphic designers, and illustrators across Maryland are invited to submit designs for the Traffic Box Art Wrap Project, transforming everyday infrastructure into vibrant works of public art.
About the Project
This initiative will turn three traffic signal cabinets—typically overlooked and vulnerable to graffiti—into visually engaging artworks that enhance the surrounding environment and contribute to community placemaking.
Selected designs will be printed on vinyl and installed on traffic signal boxes located at:
Old Sandy Spring Road & Van Dusen Road
Laurel Hospital & Van Dusen Road
Bowie Road & Lafayette Avenue
These installations are expected to remain in place for 2–3 years, serving as a lasting contribution to the visual identity of Laurel.
