Remembering Charles Jones: A Friend and Champion of the Prince George’s Film Community

The Prince George’s Arts and Humanities Council, Prince George’s Film Office, and Prince George’s Film Festival join the film community in mourning the passing of Charles Jones, a creative leader, mentor, colleague, and dedicated champion of filmmakers.

Charles became a valued part of the Prince George’s Film Festival community during its formative years. Throughout the festival’s first three years, he traveled to Prince George’s County at his own expense to attend events, participate in panels, share his industry knowledge, and, most importantly, show his support for filmmakers.

Even while facing health challenges, Charles continued to make the trip and be present for the community. His commitment was never simply about attending an event. He believed in supporting creatives, sharing what he knew, and making space for filmmakers to grow and connect.

That generosity of spirit left an impression on our team.

Film festivals are shaped not only by the stories presented on screen, but also by the people who champion the storytellers behind them. Charles was one of those people. His willingness to give his time, experience, encouragement, and presence helped strengthen the sense of community PGFF has worked to build since its beginning.

We are grateful to have known Charles and to have had him as part of the Prince George’s Film Festival story.

The PGAHC, PGFO, and PGFF teams extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, colleagues at Megamind Media, and the many creatives and industry professionals whose lives he touched.
