The Perennials Wins 2026 CODAawards People’s Choice Award
We have exciting news to share: The Perennials at the Downtown Largo Metro Station has been named a 2026 CODAawards People’s Choice Award winner!
Earlier this year, we invited our community to cast their votes after The Perennials was recognized by CODAworx. Thanks to your support, this Prince George’s County public art installation has received the People’s Choice Award, earning international recognition among outstanding commissioned art projects from around the world.
Created by internationally recognized digital scenographer Anaitté Vaccaro of ANAITTE, Inc., The Perennials is the inaugural landmark public art installation of the Blue Line Corridor at the Downtown Largo Metro Station. The project was commissioned by the Prince George’s Arts and Humanities Council (PGAHC) in partnership with WMATA’s Art in Transit Program as part of a larger effort to integrate art, culture, and creative placemaking into the continued development of the Blue Line Corridor.
The colorful installation transforms the Metro station plaza through a combination of vibrant ground artwork and sculptural elements, creating a distinctive sense of place for residents, commuters, and visitors. In recognizing the project, CODAawards juror Deirdre MacWilliams noted its ability to bring energy to the station and create a more welcoming experience for riders.
The internationally recognized CODAawards honor projects that successfully integrate commissioned art into interior, architectural, and public spaces, celebrating both the creative work and the teams that bring these projects to life.
This award is especially meaningful because it was determined by public vote. Thank you to everyone who voted, shared our call, and helped bring this recognition home to Prince George’s County.
