Join Arts’tination Resident Artist Mary Faye Claggett for a creative afternoon of painting, building, and upcycling as participants transform vinyl records into one-of-a-kind working clocks.
During this hands-on workshop, Mary will guide participants through painting and personalizing their records before assembling the components that turn their artwork into a functional clock. Young artists will also explore how analog clocks work and practice telling time along the way.
Designed for ages 8 and up, the workshop combines art, learning, and sustainability while encouraging participants to see the creative possibilities hiding in everyday objects.
And the best part? Everyone leaves with a working clock they created themselves.

ABOUT MARY FAYE CLAGGET
Born and raised in Ashton, Maryland, Mary Faye Claggett has always been connected to the rhythms of nature. Now living in Clinton, she brings that early influence—and her scientific training—to her work as an emerging acrylic artist.
A graduate of Spelman College with a degree in Chemistry, Mary spent her career in oncology research. When the Covid19 pandemic reshaped daily life, she turned to painting as a way to find peace. Her first pieces traveled far beyond her studio, reaching coworkers around the globe and offering brief moments of comfort during an unprecedented time.
Mary’s art reflects the world she grew up in: the fields and forests of rural Maryland, the intricate patterns found in science, and the quiet beauty of organic forms. Her background in chemistry informs her approach to color and fluidity, giving her work a distinctive blend of intuition and experimentation.
Her paintings are currently on display at Arts’tination Gallery, Wellspring Manor and Spa, and in several exhibitions. She also shares her love of fluid art through local workshops and community instruction.
