Celebrating the Winners of the Prince George’s County Equestrian Art Competition
The Prince George’s Arts and Humanities Council (PGAHC) is pleased to announce the winners of our Equestrian Art Competition: Celebrating the Legacy of Prince George’s County Jockeys.
Created to honor the County’s rich equestrian heritage, the competition invited local artists to explore the history, influence, and enduring legacy of Prince George’s County jockeys through original works of art.
Congratulations to our 2025 award recipients:
First Place: Jovan Bethel
Second Place: Dion Pollard
Third Place: Curtis Woody
The winning artists were recognized during a special Preakness celebration, where guests had the opportunity to experience the artwork alongside additional featured submissions from artists throughout the community.
Prince George’s County has played an important role in the history of American horse racing, and this competition offered artists an opportunity to interpret that legacy through their own creative perspectives. Together, the submitted works celebrate the people, stories, traditions, and culture connected to the County’s equestrian history.
PGAHC congratulates Curtis Woody, Dion Pollard, and Jovan Bethel, and thanks every artist who contributed work to this special exhibition.
