“The Heir” Movie Screening
The Prince George’s Film Festival invites audiences to a special PGFF Pre-Event featuring the award-winning short film The Heir.
Fresh from its acclaimed premiere at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival, where it received the Best Short Film Award, The Heir has quickly become one of this year’s most talked-about festival films.
Written and directed by Tia A. Smith, the film explores family legacy, grief, inheritance, and the emotional realities surrounding generational wealth and communication. Through an intimate and universally relatable story, The Heirinvites audiences to reflect on the conversations families often postpone until it’s too late.
Following the screening, guests are invited to remain for a special live talkback with Tia A. Smith, offering behind-the-scenes insight into the making of the film, her transition into directing, and the meaningful conversations the film continues to inspire.
