Undersea Mosaic Adventures Workshop
Young artists are invited to dive beneath the waves for an afternoon of creativity, color, and hands-on fun.
In this interactive workshop, professional mixed-media artist Kimberly Saunders will introduce children to the exciting world of mosaic art as they create a sparkling undersea creature using colorful mosaic gems and authentic grouting techniques.
Participants may choose to create a dolphin, sea turtle, fish, or starfish while learning how mosaics are designed, assembled, and finished. Along the way they’ll strengthen fine motor skills, practice creative problem-solving, and discover the satisfaction of turning small pieces into a beautiful finished work of art.
Designed especially for beginners, this workshop provides all materials and step-by-step instruction in a fun, encouraging environment.

As a mosaic artist, I find inspiration in the vibrant tapestry of nature, the human spirit, and the interplay of light, texture and color. My work is a celebration of life's intricate beauty, expressed through a diverse array of mediums and forms. At the core of my artistic exploration are three-dimensional mosaic hearts, each hand-crafted with meticulous attention to detail and infused with layers of emotional depth. My beloved hearts symbolize the complexities of life, the resilience of the human soul, and the universal language of love that binds us all together.
Each piece is an intricate dance of tesserae, meticulously chosen, hand-cut, polished, and arranged to breathe life into the substrate.
Through the careful selection of materials and the skillful placement of tesserae, I strive to imbue each creation with a sense of depth and texture, inviting viewers to not only see but also to feel the intricate patterns that adorn its surface. My artistic journey also meanders through the lush landscapes of floral mosaics, where each flower petal forms intricate tapestries of color. Each bloom is a testament to the ephemeral beauty of nature, frozen in time through the timeless art of mosaic - inviting viewers to reflect upon their own familiar landscapes and the beauty that surrounds them.
I seek to forge connections - between past and present, self and other, artist and viewer. Through the transformative power of mosaic art. And I aim to evoke a sense of wonder, inspire contemplation, and foster a deeper appreciation for the beauty that surrounds us all.
